Coaches in schools – now also in Příbram’s nurseries
In 2020, Příbram launched the ‘Coaches in Schools’ project, which is aimed at the lower years of the first stage at all primary schools. The project will also be introduced on a trial basis in Příbram’s nursery schools.
The ‘Coaches in Schools’ project has been very well received in Příbram. The initiative has been running since 2020, when professional sports coaches began visiting schools to lead physical education lessons for young pupils. A large number of local sports clubs are involved in the project in Příbram.
“Based on our experience with this project in primary schools, we decided that we would like to extend it to our nursery schools as well, so that we can involve pre-school children too. So, from March, we’ll be trialling it in two nurseries, and if there’s interest amongst the headteachers, other nurseries could join the project from the start of the new school year,” says Mayor Jan Konvalinka.
The aim of the entire ‘Coaches in Schools’ project is to encourage as many children as possible to take part in sporting activities. Coaches from different clubs take turns visiting the schools, enabling the children to develop the widest possible range of physical skills.
