The tender process to select a contractor for the swimming pool has begun

The first preparatory phase for the construction of the new swimming pool has been completed. A tender process to select a contractor is currently underway.

The town of Příbram has launched and published a tender procedure to select a contractor for the new swimming pool, an investment project worth hundreds of millions of crowns. The new swimming pool is intended to replace the existing one, which is technologically nearing the end of its service life.

“Months of preparation are now over, and we can move on to the next stage: selecting a contractor. So what has been completed? The town now has a feasibility study and project documentation for the planning permission application. These materials were produced by Atelier 99, and their preparation involved regular consultations with experts, city representatives, representatives of the Příbram Swimming Club and the Swimming Sports Association, and, of course, representatives of the City’s Sports Facilities, which will operate the new swimming pool,” says Deputy Mayor Miroslav Peterka, who has been in charge of the new swimming pool project from the very beginning.

As previously mentioned, the town will not be proceeding with the refurbishment of the existing facility, as was originally planned, but will instead build a completely new swimming pool. The new sports facility will be built on the site of the existing outdoor pool, with the project including not only a new indoor pool but also a new outdoor pool. The existing pool will remain open throughout the construction period.

“The project plans not only for an indoor pool with eight lanes, a wellness area, a viewing gallery for spectators and participants in swimming competitions, a children’s pool and a café, but also for the construction of a new outdoor pool,” says Deputy Mayor Peterka.

The design for the new swimming pool is a visually modern structure that meets the urban planning brief that preceded the preparation of the feasibility study. The construction plans also incorporate environmental features such as a green roof and photovoltaic panels. The project addresses parking provision by adapting the existing car park.

“I am often asked about parking. Even during the preparatory work for the study on the new swimming pool, the possibility of building a multi-storey car park or expanding the existing car park between the sports halls was discussed. It is therefore possible to consider this option for increasing the number of parking spaces in the future,” added Miroslav Peterka.

The ‘design & build’ approach has been selected in the tender process as the method of implementation, whereby the contractor is responsible not only for the construction itself, but also for finalising the detailed design documentation, the technical solutions and the coordination of the entire construction process. This approach enables the application of modern technical, technological and organisational solutions, optimises the building design in terms of its feasibility, operation and life cycle, and supports the effective use of the contractor’s specialist know-how.

“As part of the preparations for the new swimming pool project, the town has applied the BIM method, which is a digital building information model. It is a smart database that contains all the information about the building. Thanks to digitalisation, this will subsequently simplify the management and use of the building,” adds Deputy Mayor Miroslav Peterka.
