Guide lines for blind and partially sighted people will be installed on Prokopská Street
The Prokopská Street renovation project was completed in 2023; guide lines for blind and visually impaired people will now be laid in places where the kerb has been lowered. The town is addressing the omissions in the project documentation and the failure to incorporate the comments from the Czech Police with the project designer.
From 9 to 17 April, minor construction work will take place on Prokopská Street in Březové Hory, where guide lines for the blind and visually impaired will be installed, primarily at building entrances and pedestrian crossings.
It should be noted that in 2023, Prokopská Street underwent extensive reconstruction, during which the water mains and sewerage pipes were replaced; and, on the section of the street from the primary school to the Church of St Prokop, a gas pipeline with connections to detached houses was installed; semi-recessed waste bins were fitted, new street lighting was installed, and the reconstruction naturally also included new surfacing for pavements and roads.
The works were carried out in accordance with the project documentation, the author of which failed to take into account the comments made by the Czech Police.
“We are currently negotiating with the designer regarding compensation for the damage caused to the town by his negligence. We will now complete the guide lines so that the street complies with all standards and can undergo its proper final inspection,” said Mayor Jan Konvalinka.
