The Příbram Svatohorská Shalmay and a joint Czech-Italian concert

For many years now, the second Saturday in September has been dedicated to the Příbram Svatohorská Šalmaja, an event that takes us back in time. Once again, the programme will include the Firefighters’ Run to Svatohorské Sady.

A historical procession, theatre, jugglers, fencers, a fair, music, dancing and a host of other activities are on offer as part of the Příbram Svatohorská Šalmaja on Saturday 12 September.

The first item on the packed programme is the aforementioned historical procession, which will set off at 9.30 am from T. G. Masaryk Square. The procession will head for the open space in front of Svatá Hora, where the all-day programme for visitors of all ages will be officially launched at 10.00. 

The programme will take place not only in the courtyard itself, but also on the nearby meadow behind the former restaurant. For many years, the event has also included the Firefighters’ Run up the Svatohorská Steps, which commemorates the events of April 1978. The all-day programme will conclude with a concert by the band Ginevra, starting at 9.15 pm. 

The Příbram Svatohorská Šalmaj festival, together with the Firefighters’ Run up the Svatohorské Stairs, is an event regularly attended by representatives from twin towns.

On Friday 11 September, a joint concert by the Příbram Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cima d’Oro male voice choir from the twin region of Valle Di Ledro will take place at St James’ Church on T. G. Masaryk Square. 

On Saturday 12 September, to improve access to the event, Příbram’s public transport will run free of charge all day. A restriction will apply to public transport route 506, which, for safety reasons, will not enter the grounds and will terminate at the ‘Příbram, Svatá Hora’ stop on Balbínova Street.
