A step closer to the athletics stadium

The town of Příbram is planning to build an athletics stadium, which has so far been lacking in this town with a strong sporting community.

Preparations for the construction of the athletics stadium in Příbram are continuing; a planning permission decision has now been issued, and documentation for the development consent application can be prepared.

“If I were to summarise our plans in a few words, it would be as follows: the town of Příbram is preparing to build an athletics stadium on the site of the former oval next to Školní Primary School, a sports ground where, for example, American football was played in the past. In the first phase, we want to build the sports ground itself; in the second phase, depending on the available funding, we will build the stands and an indoor hall,” says Deputy Mayor Miroslav Peterka by way of introduction. 

A working group, comprising representatives of the town, designers and representatives of sports clubs, meets regularly to discuss the preparations.

“At our working group’s last meeting, we discussed the next steps in the preparatory work, as well as negotiations with the National Sports Agency regarding the possibility of securing a grant for the construction. Given that planning permission has already been granted, we can move on to the next phase of the project, and we are another step closer to the new athletics stadium,” adds Deputy Mayor Peterka. 

Given the high financial costs involved, the project has been divided into phases, with the first phase involving the construction of the sports ground and modular facilities for athletes, so that the sports ground can be used even without the grandstand, permanent facilities and sports hall – which would then be addressed in the second, more financially demanding phase.
