Jiráskovy sady: The final phase of the regeneration project will require two road closures
Last year, the next phase of the regeneration of Jiráskovy sady was launched. From mid-February, Gen. R. Tesaříka Street will be closed due to the ongoing works.
The replacement of water and sewerage pipes and the connection of buildings to the newly laid mains will require Gen. R. Tesaříka Street to be closed for several weeks. The street will be closed from 15 February until the end of March.
“Work on replacing utility networks in the town centre is not straightforward, as it always causes disruption to a large number of residents. In the case of the regeneration of Jiráskovy sady, it is all the more complicated as it is a major transport hub. During the full road closure, the tarmac surface will be milled off, followed by excavation work, the laying and connection of new pipework, flushing and pressure testing, laboratory analysis of the water, and finally the laying of a new tarmac surface,” says First Deputy Mayor Vladimír Karpíšek.
The aforementioned closure of Gen. R. Tesaříka Street will not affect bus services; all bus stops will be served without restriction. The pavement in front of the school buildings remains open to pedestrians, and a passageway has been created leading to the Příbram Municipal Office’s registry office and the hairdresser’s.
It is worth noting that the regeneration of Jiráskovy sady is not merely about replacing utility networks, but also involves the restoration of pavements, historic rainwater gutters, the car park and the bus bay. At the same time, landscaping work will be carried out, new street furniture and public lighting will be installed, and semi-recessed bins will be fitted.
Once the work on Gen. R. Tesaříka Street is complete, there will be another road closure in the Jiráskovy sady area, which will significantly restrict traffic in this locality.
“From the start of April, Jiráskovy sady will be completely closed, as it will be necessary to reroute utility lines towards Pražská Street. This work will require the road to be dug up,” adds Deputy Mayor Karpíšek. As part of the preparations for the closure of Jiráskovy sady, discussions are currently underway with transport operators regarding service arrangements for Jiráskovy sady itself, so that disruption to public transport passengers is kept to a minimum.
Work on the regeneration of Jiráskovy sady is expected to be completed during June.
