Replacement of bus shelters
Over the summer holidays, nearly twenty bus shelters will be refurbished. Work will begin in the week starting 27 July.
A total of seventeen new bus shelters will be installed over the coming weeks, both in the town centre and in its outlying villages. In most cases, this will involve replacing existing shelters with new, glass ones, similar in design to those in the recently refurbished Jiráskovy sady. In the hamlets of Jesenice and Jerusalem, the shelters will be made of wood.
“The replacement of bus shelters will take place gradually; a total of seventeen will now be replaced or added. There are currently several types of shelters in the town and its surrounding settlements – wooden, metal and glass. In future, glass shelters will be installed in the town, similar in design to those newly installed in Jiráskovy sady. All shelters will display the name of the stop, and timetables will no longer be posted inside the shelters but will be placed on signposts, which are currently being renewed by IDSK,” says First Deputy Mayor Vladimír Karpíšek.
Work will begin in the week starting 27 July. It will not merely involve replacing the existing shelters with new ones; prior to installation, the foundations and platforms of the shelters will be modified. The replacement will take place in stages. “We intend to continue with the replacement of the shelters. In some cases, we also need to resolve ownership issues where an existing shelter stands on someone else’s land, such as in the commercial zone in Zdaboř, where we have reached an agreement, and passengers there will also get a new bus stop,”adds Deputy Mayor Karpíšek.
