On Saturday: the farmers’ market and two car boot sales
On Saturday 6 June, the traditional farmers’ market will take place on Dvořák Embankment in Příbram. There will also be flea markets at two different locations.
Saturday 6 June is the first Saturday of the month, which means that the farmers’ markets will be taking place on Dvořák Embankment from 8 am to 12 noon. In addition to the farmers’ market, a flea market is also planned for this day on T. G. Masaryk Square, which will be open from 9 am to 1 pm.
The arrangements for the flea markets on T. G. Masaryk Square remain the same – sellers do not need to register in advance and must arrange their own sales space (table, blankets, boxes) on the square. The typical range of goods sold at flea markets may be offered, namely second-hand items that are no longer of use to their owners and which they wish to ‘pass on’. Weapons, food, medicines, tobacco and alcohol may not be sold; during the markets, sellers will pay a fee of 20 Kč per square metre of sales area. Further flea markets on T. G. Masaryk Square are planned for September.
As part of the ‘Architecture of Repair’ exhibition, the František Drtikol Gallery in Příbram is organising an accompanying programme, which also includes flea markets. These markets, to be held in the atrium of Zámeček-Ernestina, are scheduled for Saturday 6 June from 9 am to 6 pm. In this case, it is not merely a matter of selling items in the traditional sense – the aim of this event is to explore the theme of ‘repair’ within a broader cultural and social context. The flea markets symbolically build on the idea of re-use, recycling and caring for items that already have a history of their own.
