On the first weekend in September, the town will belong to theatre-goers: Pískfest is taking place
In 2024, the Central Bohemian Region’s amateur theatre street festival was held in Příbram for the first time.
This coming weekend, from 4 to 6 September, we can look forward to the third edition of this festival. Performances will take place at several venues.
The streets and squares of Příbram will once again be transformed into stages, where several amateur theatre companies will perform over the course of the weekend. “Pískfest is another opportunity to introduce young children in particular to theatre and the arts in general. It’s a format where, throughout the day, you can watch performances by various theatre companies, across different genres and at different locations around the town. The individual performances are free to attend,” says Mayor Jan Konvalinka.
You can attend the first outdoor performance of Pískfest 2026 on Friday 4 September. In the area in front of the cultural centre, the Vševil-based group Přespolní will perform a play entitled *Master Solitaria*. It starts at 9.30 pm.
Both days of the weekend – Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September – will be packed with events: the first performances will start at 9.00 am and continue until the early evening. Several locations across the town will be transformed into improvised stages. Performances will take place in front of the A. Dvořák Theatre, on 17 November Square, Dvořák Embankment, Wenceslas Square, and near the Ernestina Pavilion, whilst one performance will also be held at the D-Club theatre.
Once again this year, Pískfest will feature the grand Theatre Parade, this time organised in collaboration with the V.O.S.A. Teatre theatre group. The parade, to which the general public is invited, will set off on Saturday 5 September at 10.30 am from the A. Dvořák Theatre and will head to 17 November Square, where the programme will continue first with a ‘casation’ ceremony at the mayor’s office, followed by the previously announced performances. You can find out when and where the individual performances will take place in the detailed programme on the piskfest.cz website.
