Landscape Relics – a panel exhibition in Svatohorské Sady

For several years now, the town of Příbram, in collaboration with the studio relinkt, has been exploring the theme of landscape relics. The results of this collaboration will be presented through a panel exhibition in Svatohorské sady. The opening will take place on 10 September at 5 pm.

Every town and every village has traces of the past within its boundaries – abandoned paths, old orchards, tree-lined avenues, wetlands, pilgrimage routes or, as here in Příbram, the remains of mining activity. All these abandoned features continue to shape the landscape to this day and, at the same time, can offer new possibilities. 

“Příbram has been focusing on the theme of landscape relics for several years now, with the aim of identifying and utilising the potential of historical features in the landscape, improving its accessibility, connecting the town with its surroundings, and seeking ways to restore significance to certain abandoned or forgotten places,” says Mayor Jan Konvalinka.

What has the project’s journey been like so far?

• 2024 – preparation of a study on landscape relics for Příbram and the surrounding area, which mapped out abandoned paths, historic orchards, tree-lined avenues, wetlands, pilgrimage routes, mining relics and other landscape features, and proposed options for their restoration and interconnection,
• 2025–2026 – workshops for the public and town representatives, focused on presenting the study, discussing individual sites and identifying priorities for the next steps,
• September 2025 – commencement of the restoration of the disused path between Litavka Forest Park and Kozičín, one of the specific measures proposed in the study.
   

You’ll be able to see Příbram and its surroundings from a slightly different perspective thanks to the ‘Landscape Relics’ panel exhibition. At the exhibition, which will be installed in the outdoor gallery of Svatohorské sady (above the sports complex), you will learn about all the discoveries made in the landscape of Příbram and its surroundings, the restoration options proposed by the study, and how disused paths, orchards, water features in the landscape or the mining heritage can help to better connect the town with the surrounding countryside. 

The exhibition will open on Thursday 10 September at 5 pm, when experts from the studio-relinkt will be present at the venue. The display panels will be on view until mid-October.
