Příbram performed excellently in 2024; a comparative analysis awarded the town an ‘A’ rating
The town of Příbram received a comparative analysis for 2024 from CRIF – Czech Credit Bureau, with the highest rating of ‘A’.
CRIF – Czech Credit Bureau assesses the financial health of towns and municipalities. Comparative analyses are carried out in comparison with towns of a similar size; in our case, this is the category of towns with a population of between 20,000 and 49,999. Compared with 47 other municipalities in the same category, the town of Příbram demonstrates stable financial management, with the analysis taking into account revenue and the ability to finance development from its own resources.
The introduction to the comparative analysis states: “Příbram managed its finances excellently in 2024 and therefore received the highest rating – grade ‘A’.” This represents a one-grade improvement on 2023. Over the longer term, its budget has been virtually balanced. Over the last five years, the balance has been negative, with the deficit accounting for an average of 2 per cent of revenue annually.
However, the three years in which Příbram’s budget recorded a deficit were also a period of higher investment activity, without any significant use of investment grants and in the absence of debt instruments. Příbram financed these increased investments from other sources, namely funds accumulated in previous periods and savings achieved in the financing of operations…’
The progress made in the comparative analysis – namely, achieving the highest rating on a seven-point scale for 2024 – is an indicator of sound financial management for the town. “In recent years, the town’s rating has improved. For 2024, we were awarded an ‘A’ rating, which is an indication to us that the town is heading in the right direction. At the same time, it is a challenge for us to continue along this established path,” says First Deputy Mayor Vladimír Karpíšek, commenting on the independent assessment.
