Once again, a year on: The theatre belongs to the children

“The Theatre Belongs to Children” is a traditional event organised by the Příbram Theatre, which will take place this year on Sunday 24 May. As well as a day full of fun, we can expect traffic restrictions, which will be eased by free public transport throughout the day.

The nineteenth edition of the ‘Theatre Belongs to Children’ event will take place on Sunday 24 May from 9 am to 6 pm.

“I don’t think there’s a single resident of our town who hasn’t heard of this event. The A. Dvořák Theatre has been organising it for quite a number of years now, and over the years it has become the largest event of its kind in the region,” says Mayor Jan Konvalinka. 

The all-day programme is designed to ensure that children of all ages find something to enjoy. There will be fairy tales shown both at the cinema and in the theatre, fairground attractions, displays of military and police equipment, as well as sports and leisure activities. “If we were to list all the stalls, attractions and activities here, it would take a very long time and we would certainly forget something. Put simply, on Sunday 24 May, you can experience absolutely everything in the Cultural Centre building and its wider surroundings,” adds Mayor Konvalinka. 

Sunday’s programme will also take place in the area around the Cultural Centre, in front of the grammar school and the swimming pool. For this reason, traffic restrictions will be in place, including the closure of certain areas and road closures, as indicated by traffic signs already in place. The most significant restriction is the complete closure of Osvobození Street from 5.00 am on Sunday. 

The restrictions on Sunday 24 May also apply to bus services, with PID routes 395, 480, 482, 502, 506, 521 and 531 being diverted via Březnická Street. During the closure, the ‘Příbram, II. poliklinika’ and ‘Příbram, Na Cihelně’ stops will be cancelled, with the ‘Příbram, Nový rybník’ stop serving as an alternative. 

Please note that on Sunday 24 May, Příbram’s public transport will run free of charge all day. In addition, from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, the ‘Divadlo patří dětem’ service will run every hour from the ‘Příbram, aut. nádr. (ul. Čs. armády)’ stop, departing from the multi-storey car park on 17 November Square. In the opposite direction, this service will depart from 17 November Square at hourly intervals from 8.45 am to 4.45 pm, with the last service leaving at 6.20 pm.
