The new nature trail will be unveiled to the public on 3 September
A project entitled ‘Modernisation of the Vojtěch–Litavka Nature Trail’ is nearing completion. The project concerns two forest parks in Příbram.
The Litavka Forest Park and the Vojtěch Forest Park are among the most popular places for walks and relaxation in Příbram. The ‘Modernisation of the Vojtěch-Litavka Nature Trail’ project, which aims to link these two areas, is currently being finalised. As part of the project, the street furniture in the forest parks is being replaced and supplemented; the replacement of information boards is being prepared; a charging station for electric bikes has been installed in Vojtěch Forest Park; and the iPlayground will also be a major new feature.
The project, which cost 1,170,000 CZK including VAT and for which the town secured a grant of 650,000 CZK from the Central Bohemian Region under the Programme to Support Ancillary Tourism Infrastructure, is almost complete. The official opening to the public is scheduled for 3 September at 10.00 am so that schools can also take part. The programme, organised in collaboration with the Příbram Children’s and Youth Centre, will take place in Litavka Forest Park from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.
“As mentioned, this involves the restoration of a nature trail that was established in Litavka Forest Park around 11 years ago. It is not merely a matter of replacing old panels with new ones, but a complete transformation of the way the trail tells the stories of the landscape, taking into account today’s visitors – children, families and even those who stop at a panel for just a moment. “The new panels will be more visual and illustrated, with less continuous text,” says Deputy Mayor Miroslav Peterka by way of introduction.
The new panels will guide visitors, for example, through the world of wetlands, forests and riverbanks, and will highlight mining, adits, ore processing, former mills and a long-forgotten cable car. A key feature of the new concept is the original illustrations by Lukáš Fibrich, around which the individual themes and stories are structured. Twelve information panels will be installed in Litavka Forest Park and two in Vojtěch Forest Park.
In addition to the panels mentioned above, the aforementioned contract also includes the installation of 31 benches, 15 litter bins and a bicycle rack – all made from recycled old clothing. A new feature is the launch of iHřiště, which combines outdoor activity with a mobile app. Transmitter points will be located throughout the Litavka and Vojtěch Forest Parks, through which the app offers interactive tasks, quizzes, games and physical activities. The iPlayground is primarily intended for families with children and operates without sound effects in the area.
“The aim of the modernisation carried out as part of this project is to offer visitors a trail that is not only a source of information, but also a place for discovery, play and spending time together in the countryside along the Litavka,” adds Deputy Mayor Peterka.
