The City of Příbram Award 2025

Two recipients were awarded the City of Příbram Prize: PhDr. Věra Smolová and Pavel Nový

Historian Věra Smolová, Director of the State District Archives in Příbram, was honoured for her lifelong work in the fields of history and archiving, for her literary and publishing activities, and for promoting the town of Příbram. She is also dedicated to making history accessible to the public, provides support to researchers and contributes to the publication of the anthology *Podbrdsko*. She has been a long-standing contributor to the town newsletter *Kahan*.

Actor Pavel Nový received an award for his lifelong work in theatre, film and television acting, and for his warm connection to the town of Příbram. He comes from the Šumava region, but has been linked to Příbram since childhood. He began his acting career at the Příbram Regional Theatre. Audiences know him best for his role as Pepa in the comedy *S tebou mě baví svět*, but also from the television series *Zdivočelá země* and the films *Snowboarďáci* and *Bába z ledu*, for which he won a Český lev award.

The awards were presented to both laureates during the closing concert of the Antonín Dvořák Music Festival, which took place at the Příbram Theatre on 3 June 2025. (photo: Martin Andrle, source: HFAD)
