The term ‘nature park’ is defined in Act No. 114/1992 Coll. of the Czech National Council on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape, replacing the original term ‘quiet area’. The Act on the Protection of Nature and the Landscape (Section 12) defines it as an area with significant concentrated aesthetic and natural values which are not protected under the Act on the Protection of Nature as specially protected areas.

The mission of a nature park is, in particular, to preserve forest stands, tree species growing outside forests, and the characteristic structure of agricultural landscapes; and furthermore to create and enhance favourable living conditions, particularly with regard to the geomorphology of the area, its specific flora and fauna, forest stands and scattered non-forest greenery, small watercourses, wetlands and meadows, concentrated mainly in areas of nature conservation interest, such as small-scale specially protected areas, significant landscape features and other elements of the territorial system of ecological stability.
In accordance with this mission, the following activities in particular may only be carried out within the nature park with the consent of the nature conservation authority (Příbram Town Council, Environment Department):
  1. to reclaim land and carry out water management works;
  2. use forest or agricultural land for other purposes and alter existing crops;
  3. to introduce intensive game rearing;
  4. carry out aerial application of chemical agents;
  5. establish waste disposal facilities, including landfill sites;
  6. carry out geological surveys and the extraction of minerals, rocks and humus;
  7. to install advertising, information and promotional structures (within the meaning of Section 71 of Act No. 50/1976 Coll., the Building Act, as amended) outside the built-up areas of a rural settlement;
  8. remove anti-erosion barriers, gullies, boulders and rock formations;
  9. light fires outside designated campsites (this does not apply to the lighting of fires for the burning of brushwood and timber during forestry activities);
  10. to burn dry grass;
  11. organise tent camps, camp or bivouac in the open countryside;
  12. organise any sporting, recreational or other mass events outside the built-up areas of the rural settlement (this does not apply to joint hunting events – driven hunts and specialist seminars);
  13. change the land category ‘other areas’ to other land categories.
Throughout the entire park area, any changes to the condition and use of the land, as well as construction activities – in particular the siting and authorisation of new structures (including simple, small-scale and temporary ones), the establishment, alteration or removal of water management structures (including protection zones), land improvement works, other land-scaping works (including erosion control), and the establishment of car parks and campsites – are subject to the consent of the nature conservation authority (Příbram Municipal Authority, Department of the Environment) prior to the issuance of the relevant decision by the state administrative authority. An exception is made for structures used for forestry and game management, provided their built-up area does not exceed 30 m and their height does not exceed 5 m (in particular, game feed stores, feeding stations and hunting hides) and fencing designed to protect crops from being grazed.
The requirement for approval from the nature conservation authority for construction work does not apply to plots of land for which valid spatial planning documentation or supporting documents discussed with this authority are available at the time of construction. For the maintenance of existing structures and for routine maintenance work on forestry and agricultural land improvement works, provided that none of the aforementioned activities affect generally or specifically protected parts of the natural environment within the meaning of the Act.
The creation of new trails and footpaths (marked hiking routes) may only be carried out with the consent of the authorised municipal authority (Rožmitál pod Třemšínem Municipal Authority or Březnice Municipal Authority).
The following nature reserves or natural monuments form part of the park’s territory:
  • Hřebenec Natural Monument
  • Na Skalách Nature Reserve
  • Třemešný vrch Natural Monument
  • Getsemanka I and II Nature Reserves
