Friendship Park

Park Přátelství

This small park is situated on the corner of Hailova and Pivovarská streets.

Originally, the ‘U bílého anděla’ inn stood on this site, which was a renowned social and national revival centre in Příbram at the end of the 19th century. Balls, dances and readings from Czech history were held here. J. K. Tyl also staged his plays here.

Later, the pub was converted into a synagogue and, following its demolition in 1969, the grassy area was transformed into a small park, later enhanced with a pond, benches and ornamental shrubs in the shade of Japanese cherry trees.

On 3 June 2015, a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust was ceremonially unveiled here.

Olga Havlová’s Tree has been planted here.
