Litavka Forest Park

situace Lesopark Litavka

Litavka Forest Park has been commonly known in Příbram for many years by its shortened name, ‘Lesopark’. It is situated on the south-western outskirts of the town of Příbram, in the valley of the Litavka stream.

The town’s residents frequently and happily use this area for outdoor recreation. Their starting points are the car park by the FK Příbram football stadium or the hamlet of Vysoká Pec by Vysokopecký Pond.

A main gravel path runs through the centre of the forest park, from which a network of footpaths branches off into the forest glades, to the floodplain meadows, the river, and even the small ponds hidden amongst the trees.

Whilst out walking here, you can admire the flowers of rare globeflowers or irises. Above the stream, the plumage of a kingfisher occasionally glints like a blue emerald. A keen eye will also spot the sites where silver ore was processed hundreds of years ago, as well as many other features. The site also includes the registered ‘Lado u Lazeckého mlýna’, a significant landscape feature.

This is a spot of interest from both a natural history and historical perspective. The town of Příbram, therefore, in collaboration with the civic association Ochrana fauny, and with the generous cooperation of the Příbram Mining Museum, has gathered fascinating information on the history and present day of the forest park and is presenting a virtual nature trail to the public,
as an invitation to discover the secrets of this unique place.
