Zeleň Parky ve městě Jarolímkovy sady

Jarolímek’s Orchards

Jarolímkovy sady

In 1836, when the imperial land register was being mapped, the area consisted solely of wet meadows surrounding an open channel that carried water to the Vojtěch mine all the way from Lázský Pond in the Brdy Hills.

The space for the small park was created on the initiative of the enlightened mine manager Jiljí Jarolímek in 1886, in connection with the construction of shelters, a soup kitchen and baths for miners from outside the area. The channel in the lower part of the park was permanently covered over at that time.

The park was planted here in 1896 by the town gardener, František Fojt, with “larger, noble trees and saplings suited to a harsher climate”.

In 2008, the town of Příbram created a new children’s playground with a variety of play features beneath the canopy of lime, maple and oak trees.
