Applications for the professional competence tests for driving motor vehicles

Basic information: The professional competence tests for applicants for a driving licence are governed by Section 32 of Act No. 247/2000 Coll., on the acquisition and improvement of professional competence to drive motor vehicles. Upon completion of lessons and training at a driving school, an applicant for a driving licence must sit a test of professional competence to drive a motor vehicle. The driving school operator is obliged, no later than 15 days from the date of completion of instruction and training, or from the date of receipt of the applicant’s request to sit a repeat examination in accordance with Section 39( 2, to register the applicant for a driving licence in writing with the municipal authority with extended powers for a test of professional competence to drive a motor vehicle for the purpose of obtaining a driving licence, for which the applicant has completed instruction and training with the driving school operator, or for a retake examination. The competent authority is the municipal authority with extended powers according to the location of the driving school operator’s premises. The competent municipal authority with extended powers shall immediately notify the applicant in writing, via the driving school, of the venue, date and time of the test of professional competence to drive a motor vehicle, or of a retake, as the case may be. The municipal authority with extended powers shall schedule the applicant for the test of professional competence, or a retake, so that it commences no later than 15 days after receipt of the driving school operator’s application for registration for the examination, and shall ensure that the driving school’s request is met on a single date.

Processing time: The examination shall commence no later than 15 days after receipt of the driving school operator’s application for registration for the examination.

Who is authorised to submit an application: The driving school operator only.

Legislation governing the procedure: Act No. 247/2000 Coll., on the acquisition and improvement of professional competence to drive motor vehicles.

Administrative fee: An applicant for a driving licence is required to pay 700 Kč for the proficiency test; in the case of repeat examinations, the applicant shall pay 100 CZK for a repeat road traffic regulations test, 200 CZK for a repeat test on vehicle operation and maintenance, and 400 CZK for a repeat practical driving test. The applicant must pay this fee at the office cash desk or by payment card to the examiner before the test begins.
