every resident is able to visit the town hall during office hours to sort out what they need, or finding their way to the town hall may be difficult for them.
To make things more convenient and further simplify communication between the public and the council, the town has launched a new online communication system, known as the Citizen Portal.
The Citizen Portal enables citizens to deal with administrative matters electronically and provides an overview of the status of their processing. Electronic communication makes it possible to replace in-person or postal contact between citizens and the council, and to fulfil obligations or submit applications via electronic online forms, even outside office hours.
The system can also be used by businesses, including both individuals and legal entities. Thanks to funding from the European Union, Příbram is among the first towns in the Czech Republic to implement the digitisation of public administration. The new portal has a public and a restricted section, which users can access only after registering. Citizens can find out how to apply for a planning permission, register a vehicle or obtain a new ID card in the ‘I need to sort this out’ section, which is linked to from the public part of the portal. Here, users can download forms, find information on relevant administrative matters (such as dog licence fees or bin collection charges), access a list of contact details for council staff, or follow direct links to further information (for example, on the town’s budget, published contracts or elections).
Access to the non-public section requires registration (username and password, Eidentita, MojeID). Once registered and logged in, users can access a full range of personalised services, including the electronic submission of forms. Here, they can track the history and status of pending applications and decisions. You can make payments via the payment gateway and access many other features. You can find the Citizen Portal on the city’s website, pribram.eu, under the ‘I need to sort something out’ tab, or via the link portalobcana.pribram.eu.
“Thanks to this platform, residents will be able to communicate with the council at any time, even outside office hours. Everything can be looked up and sorted out from the comfort of their own homes. This eliminates problems such as having to take time off work just to make it to the council during office hours,” says Jan Konvalinka, the town’s mayor, regarding the Citizen Portal.
