In 1292, King Wenceslas I of Bohemia donated the village of Německá Lhota to Zbraslav Abbey. This first written record marks the beginning of the village’s history. There used to be mining sites and now-defunct mines in the surrounding area. The village’s development has always been linked to mining and metallurgy. Mines, smelting works and agriculture were the main sources of employment and livelihood. In ancient times, mining also took place on Dubová hora. The local pits yielded lead ore containing silver, as well as iron ore. A typical feature of Lhota today is the tall chimneys of the Příbram Kovohutě steelworks.
