Hluboš

Location: a village about 8 km north of Příbram, approximately 5 km south of Jince, in the valley of the Litavka stream

Cadastral area: 1,209 ha

Population: 555

The original yeoman’s fortress was converted into a Baroque chateau in the 18th century, where T.G. Masaryk also stayed between 1920 and 1921.  There are three exhibitions in the chateau. The first is dedicated to T.G. Masaryk’s stay, the second to Charlotte Masaryková, her family, life and work, with particular emphasis on her relationship with Bedřich Smetana, and the third is dedicated to the history of the chateau. A notable feature of the village is a lime tree planted in 1848 – on the day serfdom was abolished.

The village’s most prominent feature is the Baroque church dedicated to the Holy Trinity.
