Game Management Planning

A game management plan for a hunting ground is a written statement by the hunting ground user setting out how they intend to manage the hunting ground from 1 April to 31 March of the following year. The plan sets out the hunting ground user’s objectives for ensuring the protection of game, and for the targeted rearing and hunting of game, including the various stages of the game’s life cycle. The game management plan for the hunting ground consists of the following sections:

1. Breeding and hunting plan for cloven-hoofed game

Submission deadline: by 25 April of the calendar year

It is drawn up for those game species for which minimum and standard population levels have been set in the hunting ground. The method for determining minimum and standard game populations and for classifying hunting grounds or parts thereof into quality classes is set out in Decree No. 491/2002 Coll.

2. Breeding and hunting plan for small game

Submission deadline: by 25 July of the calendar year

3. Hunting plan for other game species

Submission deadline: by 25 July of the calendar year

4. Game management plan

Submission deadline: by 25 April of the calendar year

5. Plan for joint game hunts

Submission deadline: by 25 July of the calendar year

A joint hunt may take place provided there is a minimum of 3 shooters and the specified number of hunting dogs (one certified hunting dog per the first three shooters and for every further 10 shooters or part thereof, for the species of game to be hunted) and a collective hunting permit (Section 46(2) – list of persons participating in the joint hunt), which is drawn up by the hunting ground user.

The species of game and their sex that may be hunted during a joint hunt are determined by the Game Act (Section 45(1)(u), Section 45(2)).

6. Plan for the number of hunting dogs

Submission deadline: by 25 April

The number of dogs suitable for hunting in a given hunting ground is determined by Section 15 of Decree No. 244/2002 Coll., which implements certain provisions of the Game Act.

7. Game census results

Submission: no later than 5 days after the census has been carried out

Hunting ground users are required to submit the results of the game census, listing all species of game found in the hunting ground must be submitted by hunting ground users in a single copy on the attached census form to the state hunting administration authority, the Příbram Municipal Authority, Department of the Environment, Tyršova 108, 261 19 Příbram, by the specified deadline.

The results of the census will be discussed with the hunting ground holder, who will confirm the counted numbers of individual game species by signing the census form.

The dates for the game census are set annually by the Regional Authority of the Central Bohemian Region, as the competent OSSM.

The holder of the hunting ground and the holders of neighbouring hunting grounds have the right to participate in the census through their representative and to comment on the results to the state hunting administration authority.
