ERASMUS+

General information about the project:

Project title: Robotics moves the world
Project period: September 2020 – August 2023
Grant application deadline: 24 March 2020
Czech project partners: Town of Příbram, Techák Březnice, Jiráskovy Sady Primary School, 28 October
Primary School Dutch project partners: City of Hoorn, Penta School, Stichting Netwerk
Slovak project partners: City of Kežmarok, Kežmarok Primary School, CVC Kežmarok

The aim of the project was to develop teaching skills in the field of robotics, to innovate teaching methods and to introduce new, modern approaches at primary and lower secondary school levels, as well as in out-of-school activities organised by the participating schools (after-school clubs, after-school care, school clubs). The project resulted in the creation of three teaching modules containing methodology, presentations, applications and questions on the relevant topics; taken together, the modules form a handbook for the use of robotics and are available to participating schools and other schools in the partner regions.

International activities carried out:

November 2021 – international meeting in the Czech Republic – training for teachers at Techak on the topic of Ozobots.
The aim of the training was to learn how to work with Ozobots and to receive training on using E-twinning.

May 2022 – short-term exchange of pupils and teachers in the Netherlands
. The aim of the meeting was to work together with Ozobots, compare worksheets, hold competitions and exchange experiences. In June 2022, an Ozobot competition took place in all participating schools (each school prepared one task, which it sent to the other schools to be solved).

The outcome of the first project year was a handbook for working with Ozobots, including ten worksheets for after-school clubs (methodology, presentations, applications, questions); these materials were piloted and used in the following school year.

June 2022 – international meeting in the Netherlands – training for teachers using LEGO We Do
. The aim of the meeting was to learn how to work with LEGO robotics, demonstration lessons
. Following the international meeting, teachers began working with pupils, recording the outcomes and publishing them on the eTwinning platform.

October 2022 – international meeting in Slovakia – training for teachers on virtual reality
. The aim of the training was to learn how to use virtual reality tools, create videos and edit photographs. Following the meeting, pupils and teachers worked on preparing materials for creating a virtual tour of the partner towns; individual components were shared on the E-twinning platform.

23 February – short-term pupil and teacher exchange, Slovakia
. The aim of the meeting was to work together with LEGO, compare worksheets, hold competitions and exchange experiences. The outcome of the second project year was a guide to working with Lego, which was piloted and used in the following year. In June 2022, a Lego competition took place in all participating schools, with each school preparing a Lego task for the other partners.

The outcome of the second year of the project was a handbook on working with LEGO, covering nine topics – four for Key Stage 1 and five for Key Stage 2 of primary school (methodology, presentations, applications, questions). These materials were piloted in the following school year.

23 May – short-term exchange of pupils and teachers in the
Czech Republic
. The aim of the meeting was to finalise the materials and complete the virtual tour. The outcome of the third project year was a handbook on working with virtual reality tools. The meeting also included a project (thematic) day on robotics held at Techak, which served as a summary of the methods learnt for both pupils and teachers.

June 2023 – international meeting in the Netherlands
The aim of the meeting was to evaluate the project’s outputs and plan further collaboration.

Final project
conference
The final project conference took place on 30 August 2023 and the programme included a summary of the entire project, as well as presentations of the outputs (Ozobots, Lego robots, virtual reality) by representatives of both participating schools in Příbram, contributions from international partners in Hoorn and Kežmarok, and discussions and the sharing of experiences.

Outputs:

A robotics methodology guide (3 modules – Ozobots, Lego, VR) and worksheets for these areas in four language versions (Czech, English, Dutch, Slovak)
Photographic documentation and videos: Pupils’ work in eTwinning
; robotics competitions; project days at participating schools
; virtual profiles of partner towns;
training for teachers at educational centres
; project days at Techak
; updates to school curricula; innovations in teaching methods

All outputs are published on the project website: https://sites.google.com/view/roboticsmovestheworld/home

Roles of individual partners:

Cities: project management, monitoring the timetable, monitoring the budget, publicising the project in local media and on the city’s website, disseminating results to other schools and educational institutions under their remit.
Schools: participation in in-service teacher training, piloting the developed materials with pupils, work on eTwinning, purchase and use of robotics equipment, dissemination of project results on school websites.
Techak, CVC, Stichting Netverk: developing and delivering training for local and international teachers; assisting participating schools in selecting robotics equipment; producing a methodology guide and worksheets; advertising training courses on the website; and disseminating project results on the website.
