Příbram makes its debut at the Tour Salon 2011 trade fair in Poznań (Poland)
With a view to increasing the number of tourists visiting the Příbram region, the town of Příbram applied for a grant from the Regional Operational Programme (ROP) as part of the project ‘Promotion of the Příbram Region as a Tourist Destination’.
The grant was awarded, and so the town will also be showcasing itself at an international trade fair, namely Tour Salon 2011 in Poznań.
Příbram will therefore be showcasing itself there from 19 to 22 October, at a stand entitled ‘Příbram Region’.
To ensure that all the interesting attractions of our region are showcased, the following organisations will be represented alongside the town of Příbram itself: the Příbram Mining Museum (www.muzeum-pribram.cz), the Association of Municipalities of the Podbrdsko Region (www.podbrdsko.com) and the J. Drda Library (www.kjd.pb.cz). All these organisations will contribute to creating an engaging exhibition showcasing the Příbram region with all its beauty and attractions. All the exhibitors in our display guarantee high-quality offerings for tourists, and we believe they will attract new visitors to our region.
And what will we be offering visitors to the Poznań fair? They will be able to stop off at our traditional miners’ pub, which reflects our town’s mining heritage.
We will also be showcasing a historic monument – the Svatá Hora Basilica (www.svata-hora.cz), which is not only the most significant and oldest Marian pilgrimage site in Bohemia, but also a veritable treasure trove of art. In addition to the highly valuable early Baroque architecture of one of the largest 17th-century building complexes in the country – featuring rare High Baroque portals and a staircase – there are several hundred sculptures and paintings, as well as an exceptionally rich, extensive and, for the most part, high-quality stucco decoration, as well as numerous rare works by artisans from previous centuries.
The exhibits at the Příbram Mining Museum document our town’s mining history. Thanks to the museum, the mining trade has not been consigned to oblivion; rather, it remains very much in the public eye thanks to interesting technical artefacts and well-preserved traditions (e.g. Easter and Christmas in a miner’s cottage, themed exhibitions in the Vojtěch Mine hall, descents into the underground and rides on the miners’ train, etc.).
The Příbram region is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and it is precisely this picturesque natural environment that the Association of Municipalities of the Podbrdsko Region will showcase.
Because the Brdy Mountains are a military zone, the natural environment here is exceptionally healthy and protected from the encroachments of civilisation. Several walking trails have been opened up for tourists, and they are truly well worth exploring. More and more tourists are visiting this area.
Příbram also has a vibrant cultural scene, which is why we will be introducing all visitors to the Příbram-based band Ginevra. The band will perform their songs at the ‘Příbramsko’ exhibition on 21 and 22 October 2011.
The event is supported by the NUTS 2 Central Bohemia Regional Operational Programme
as part of the project ‘Promotion of the Příbramsko Tourist Destination’.
