Launch of the ‘Promotion of the Příbram Region as a Tourist Destination’ project at the Regiontour 2011 trade fair in Brno and participation in the Holiday World 2011 trade fair in Prague.

At the 20th international trade fair for regional tourism opportunities, ‘Regiontour 2011’, in Brno, which took place from 13 1 to 16 January 2011, Příbram was represented at a joint ‘Příbram Region’ stand alongside the Příbram Mining Museum, the Association of Municipalities of the Podbrdsko Region and the J. Drda Library. Visitors to Brno could find out about the attractions of the Příbram region at a stand designed in the style of a miners’ pub.
On the first day of the fair, 13 January 2011, the official launch of the “Promotion of the Příbram Region as a Tourist Destination” project took place. The project was officially launched and presented by the Deputy Mayor of Příbram, Mr Václav Černý, who explained what the project involved, what its objectives were, and the allocation of a grant from the Regional Operational Programme for this project. Further information was provided by Mr Ota Hauptman, Head of the Trade Licensing Office, who organises the town’s participation in trade fairs.
As part of the ‘Promotion of the Příbram Region as a Tourist Destination’ project, the town of Příbram, together with the Příbram Mining Museum, the Association of Municipalities of the Podbrdsko Region and the Jan Drda Library, presented an exhibition entitled ‘The Příbram Region’ at the 20th anniversary Holiday World 2011 fair. This, the largest Central European tourism fair, took place from 10 to 13 February 2011 at the Exhibition Centre in Prague-Holešovice. “I greatly appreciate the support from the European Union that our Příbram region has received for its own promotion. I believe we have a lot to offer visitors. Our magnificent monuments, the beautiful Brdy countryside, and our mining traditions – all of this is well worth a visit. I am confident that the Příbram region will capture people’s interest and become even more attractive to both domestic and international visitors,” said the Mayor of Příbram, MVDr. Josef Řihák, who visited the Holiday World fair and the Příbram region’s stand.
As in previous years, both the town of Příbram and the Příbram Mining Museum offered promotional materials, news and points of interest at the fair. As has become tradition, visitors to the Příbram region’s stand were given minerals from the Příbram ore mines. Svatá Hora was also showcased. A monitor at the exhibition displayed photographs, promotional clips and points of interest from across the entire Příbram region. A musical performance by the band Ginevra in both Prague and Brno significantly enlivened the presentation of the Příbram region at the exhibition.
Meetings with tour operators, travel agencies and the press also took place during the trade fairs. The Příbram region’s stand attracted considerable interest from both industry professionals and the general public.
