Bohutín

Location: 2 km south of Příbram, along the main road to Rožmitál and Plzeň, in the valley of the Litavka stream

This village is also one of the mining communities that sprang up around Příbram, whose inhabitants commuted to the Příbram mines for work and where farming was merely a sideline.  This is reflected in the style of the local buildings, which completely lack the typical agricultural features we are used to seeing in the Czech countryside. Bohutín is also exceptional in its preservation of traditions. The traditional Bohutín Shrovetide festival is renowned even beyond the region. The village is home to Vysokopecký Pond, which also serves as a swimming area. Vysokopecký Pond covers an area of 10 hectares and has a spillway at an elevation of 538.6 metres above sea level. The Litavka stream flows through the pond, and its course continues through the Forest Park, which was established on the site of a medieval silver panning site. Traces of the silver panning are still visible here today. The village also has two former mine shafts, Řimbaba and Štěpánka. A prominent landmark of Bohutín is the Church of St Mary Magdalene.
