The Příbram Svatohorská Shalmay 2022

The Svatohorská Šalmaj is an event that attracts widespread public interest; it is a traditional occasion at which the town bids farewell to summer. In 2022, the fifteenth edition will take place on 10 September 2022. As in previous years, the programme will feature a host of period bands, creative workshops, theatre performances and craft stalls. Every year, this medieval event attracts more and more visitors, not only from Příbram but from across the region.

Around 25 bands, jugglers, societies and artists will perform on two stages. These will be complemented by 40 stalls and activity stations (archery, medieval cuisine, horse riding, etc.) with creative workshops (wreath-making, painting on canvas bags, etc.), as well as stalls and workshops for both children and adults. The programme has been carefully curated to appeal to a wide audience of all ages. The performances feature a variety of artists, both amateur and professional, from Příbram and beyond. The cultural programme is complemented by a market where craftspeople demonstrate both traditional and contemporary Czech folk crafts.

Šalmaj is a traditional gathering of neighbours and acquaintances in the historic setting of Svatá Hora, which is transformed for a few hours into a medieval market, town square and stage. It is an opportunity to catch up with friends you haven’t seen all year, whilst the event is also open to the public and people of all ages from other towns and regions.

Visitors to the Příbram Svatá Hora Šalmaj associate their visit and participation in the event not only with a glimpse into the Middle Ages, but also with a tour of Svatá Hora, a historic and pilgrimage site in the town of Příbram.
