Project nameAccessible Route, Public Transport Stop at the 2nd Health Centre – Cultural Centre
Grant providerState Transport Infrastructure Fund
Brief description of the project

The project addresses the existing pavement connecting the bus stop with the accessible entrance to the Cultural Centre and the A. Dvořák Theatre. At present, there are a number of barriers along this route, and pedestrian safety is only addressed provisionally by means of mobile traffic islands.

A pavement 1.9–4.5 m wide (at the boarding edge of the bus stop) and 208 m long is proposed along the existing Tylova Street and Osvobození Avenue.
The pavement is separated from the carriageway by a raised kerb with a step height of 120 mm; at crossing points or where the pavement ends, the step height is 20 mm. At the kerb edge of the bus stop, the step height will be 160 mm.
Tactile paving is currently missing along the entire length of the pavement route. Three types of tactile paving are proposed. Tactile paving VL1 consists of a concrete kerb with a 60 mm step height. Tactile paving line VL2 consists of an existing retaining wall or solid wall. Tactile paving line VL3 consists of grooved paving slabs (where the tactile paving line is interrupted over a length of more than 8 m).
At all existing pedestrian crossings, warning strips 400 mm wide and signal strips 800 mm wide made of tactile paving will be installed. The signal strip always extends right up to the tactile guide line.

A 400 mm wide contrasting strip will be installed at the kerb edge of the bus stop (this may be painted or laid using interlocking paving – not tactile paving). The existing, unsuitable position of the bus stop sign will be relocated to the start of the bus bay. At the location of the existing bus stop marker, an 800 mm wide tactile paving signal strip will be installed. Within the bus bay, a 31-metre-long bus stop will be marked out with new horizontal road markings (1 x articulated bus – 18 m and 1 x standard bus – 12 m).
