The town of Příbram has been awarded a grant to carry out the project ‘Modernisation of Primary School No. 7 in Příbram’. The project is supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA Financial Mechanism, known as the Norwegian Funds. The project budget is approximately 18 million CZK, of which approximately 9 million CZK (332,534 euros) is a grant from the aforementioned funds, with the remaining costs covered by the town of Příbram’s budget.

The aim of the project is to improve both the interior and exterior of the school and to enhance conditions for the children, not only during school hours but also for their leisure time.

Specifically, the interior works involve refurbishing the indoor running track (replacing and extending the track surface, repairing suspended ceilings, replacing windows and doors, refurbishing toilets and changing rooms, fitting out with furniture, and installing a digital stopwatch), refurbishment of the gyms (wooden wall panelling, suspended ceilings with lighting and repainting), and the renovation of the so-called ‘winter garden’, which is used primarily for relaxation, including the addition of new furniture, a data projector and a projection screen.

As regards the exteriors, the project involves refurbishing both the large and small courtyards and equipping them so that they can be used for the children’s cultural and sporting activities. The project also provides for the construction and fitting out of an outdoor area where, in good weather, outdoor lessons can take place. The project also includes the construction of two new playgrounds with synthetic surfaces.

The entire project was completed in 2009.
