Brief description of the project

On 10 June 2017, the town of Příbram organised a major event entitled ‘Příbram Sports Day 2017’. This event followed on from last year’s ‘Novák 800’ festival. This year’s event focused on sport, modelled on the Olympic Parks established for the Rio 2016 Games. The venue was the Nový Rybník complex. Sports organisations from Příbram presented themselves at the event, attended by their leading members. The organisations prepared competitions in up to 40 sporting disciplines for participants – both adults and children. The event at Novák began at 9 am and got into full swing after the Olympic flame was lit. Spectators could watch the entire programme or try out a whole range of sports alongside their children. The individual sports areas were colour-coded. A wide range of sports disciplines were on offer for young and old alike to try their hand at: football, ice hockey, American football, judo, volleyball, gymnastics, athletics, floorball, canoeing, archery, cycling, golf, aerobics, majorettes, floorball, boxing, biathlon, rowing, streetball, fencing, wakeboarding, longboarding, mini-golf, pétanque, swimming, dance and many more. It is worth emphasising that all the athletes devoted their time to the children conscientiously throughout the day. The most interest was generated by the more unusual stations, such as the biathlon shooting range, climbing activities and diving. Thanks to the hot weather, everyone was able to try out paddleboards and canoes without fear of falling into the water. The paddling pool by the beach and the playground with water features were also a big hit. A charity football match was also held as part of Sports Day. After the sporting activities at Novák had finished, the programme continued from 6 pm at the nearby Příbram Open-Air Cinema complex. Visitors were treated to professional dance, sports and acrobatic shows. Admission to both the daytime and evening programmes was free. Thousands of children and their parents attended the event at the Nový Rybník site, which was a great success and received positive feedback. The whole sports day concluded after 10 pm with a fireworks display.
