| Brief description of the project | As part of the project, the landfill cells were shaped, technical containment barriers (an impermeable liner) were constructed across the landfill site, vegetation cover was established, drainage ditches were constructed to divert rainwater away from the landfill body, the pipework of the stream beneath the landfill body was inspected, and the leachate collection tank was inspected and cleaned. The aim of the project was to prevent the spread of pollution into the area surrounding the landfill body and to minimise the environmental impact in the vicinity of the landfill. The aim of the technical measures was to prevent the landfill body from being eroded by rainwater, to prevent leaching from the waste, and to eliminate the possibility of groundwater and surface water being contaminated by internal leachate. |
