The aim of constructing the Community Home for the Elderly is to provide social rental housing for members of the target group, so as to maintain and extend their self-sufficiency and independence, whilst at the same time enabling a community-based way of life based on the principle of neighbourly support. The emphasis is on interpersonal relationships and maintaining the independence of each individual.

The Community Home for the Elderly in Příbram has been created by converting a former school building; following the refurbishment, 23 residential units were created, alongside a garden in the immediate vicinity featuring street furniture and a pétanque court. The building’s location is convenient in terms of walking distances to shops, the hospital and public transport stops. The first and second floors house residential units comprising a room with a kitchenette, a hallway, a bathroom and a storage cupboard. The building’s interior layout has been designed with the reduced mobility of its residents in mind. The building features a passenger lift and spaces for wheelchairs, equipped with facilities for recharging their electric batteries. The ground floor also houses a communal room with a storage area, enabling residents to organise social gatherings and various cultural or educational programmes.
