Application for the reinstatement of a driving licence revoked on health grounds

Required documents: A completed application form + a medical certificate of fitness to drive motor vehicles issued by a medical examiner, which must not be more than 30 days old on the date of application. If more than three years have elapsed since the decision to revoke the driving licence due to loss of medical fitness became final, the applicant must also provide evidence of professional competence to drive motor vehicles. This document must also not be more than 30 days old on the date of application.

Basic information: An assessing doctor is defined as: a) a registered general practitioner; b) a doctor at an occupational health service; c) any general practitioner in the case of a person who does not have a registered general practitioner or a doctor at an occupational health service.

Procedure: A written application addressed to this office is registered and, following a check to ensure it is complete, verification of the applicant’s identity and consideration of the application, a decision is issued in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Code; this is either sent to the applicant by post or, by arrangement, collected in person.

Processing time: Within 30 days; in particularly complex cases, within 60 days.

Who is eligible to submit an application: The applicant must be a natural person with full legal capacity whose driving licence has been revoked on the grounds of medical unfitness to drive motor vehicles.
